Witches like myself have spirit guides. There are many forms of witchcraft from Wiccan, though shamanic to Voodoo. Most have guides, either spirit guides or Patron Deities. Many consult both.Both of which the witch communicates with and looks to for guidance from. People who follow the old paths of religion worship a Universal Deity - a divine force of all creation. To work with this divine force most followers of the old ways simplify this process by worshipping of the Patron Deities representing the aspects of the divine force they wish to work with. Someone once described this to me as each Deity being one face of a diamond - one side of the whole complete entity.
Witches believe everything has a living energy and a conscience. Everything from a Human Being to an inanimate stone. All contain energy and a conscience recording the life and history of the Earth. All living creatures are a creation of energy and have a universal soul. It is this soul that transcends with us through the seven planes of spiritual evolution. With us through all our forms of carnation. Our Spirit Guides may take Human or animal form. Our guides may stay with us throughout our entire lives or just pop in and out at will as they impart their knowledge to us.
Although there throughout our lives there is no limit to the numbers of guides who may seek to guide us.
To meet your Deity or Guide, a witch must learn to "change Conscious" to attain mentally a state of mind where he/she maybe open to receive messages from the Deity or Guide. This change can be brought about in various ways such as, meditation or chanting etc.
